In-situ construction of grass-like hybrid architecture responsible for extraordinary corrosion performance: Experimental and theoretical approach

Despite the engineering potential by co-existence of inorganic and organic substances to protect vulnerable metallic materials from corrosive environments, both their interaction in-situ formation mechanism induce nature-inspired composite remained less understood. The present work used three distinctive mercapto-benzazole (MB) compounds working as corrosion inhibitors, such 2-mercaptobenzoxazole (MBO), 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT), 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (MBI) in a bid understand how geometrical structure arising O, S, N atoms affected toward layer. MB that were here control kinetics would be interacted readily with pre-existing MgO layer fabricated plasma electrolysis. This phenomenon triggered nucleation root network since seen adsorbed actively on defective surface through active sites compound. Then, molecule twin donor adjacent mercapto-sites facile growth grass-like structures ‘uniform’ distribution via molecular self-assembly, which showed better performance than those having dissimilar inhibition efficiency (η) 97% approximately. underlying behavior was discussed concerning theoretical calculation density functional theory.
